All prices are exclusive of postage. Postage is calculated by the weight of order using the postage table.

Payment

METHODS OF PAYMENT:

  • Direct to the CFHS

The postage rates are always the same. There is NO discount for bulk buying. Books and fiche can either be purchased at Society meetings or by post from the Bookstall Organiser. All prices are exclusive of postage and packing. Overseas orders sent by airmail.

    • All cheques to be made payable to 'Cambridgeshire Family History Society'.

Order Form: There is a bookstall order form to complete for all orders.

Postage: Please note that charges for postage are based on weight. Each item has an associated weight so that when ordering the total weight can be related to the postage table to calculate the correct postage rate to use. This method, rather than including a postage value in each item, has been more accurate and has normally worked out cheaper for the purchaser.

  • Using www.parishchest.com by Credit Card

If using a credit card then microfiche and membership can be ordered and paid for via www.parishchest.com.

The Cambridge Explorer CD-Rom.

This CD-ROM was released on 1st July 2001.

Use your web-browser to explore the streets of Cambridge, with the aid of the fully indexed W.P.Spalding Street Directory of Cambridge for 1904, together with Maps of 1904, 1924 & 1949 and in excess of 1,000 photographs. This CD-ROM has been produced in association with "Cambridgeshire Collection" which has kindly given access to much of the material you will see.

Cambridgeshire Explorer CD-ROM

This CD-ROM is planned for release 1st October 2002

Not to be confused with the original Cambridge Explorer CD the Cambridgeshire Explorer CD-ROM is nearing completion. Release date is expected to be 1st October 2002. Hugo Brown is now taking advance orders. If you want any details please visit his web site; any other questions should be addressed to him at: hugob@wyverncrest.co.uk.

It's been a mammoth project which covers "Old" Cambridgeshire. There will be approximately 1,700 photographs (1,000 from the Cambridgeshire Collection) with much better indexing than with the Cambridge Explorer as there has also been added the "photo-album" which allows you to look at all the photographs in order without having to go back and forth from the indexes.

There are 189 different locations listed on the CD covering all but the smallest hamlets. There are photos of nearly every church in the old county and there are a large selection of schools, public houses, railway stations and village signs, plus many other well known land marks.

There will be at least 4 different maps. The main one being the Kelly's 1904 map that has been fully hyper linked from the map to the individual locations of which there are 189 listed on the CD. There are also 2 railway maps and a Cambridge Street map.

Finally there is an index of the Kelly's 1904 Directory with each entry linking direct to the original page that will eventually contain approximately 20,000 names as listed.

For the Cambridgeshire Family Historian it is doubtful if there has been such a comprehensive source of information.

The expectation is to sell the CD-ROM on a similar basis as with the Cambridge Explorer. Price is expected to be £20 plus P&P. Hugo is offering £2 discount for advance orders by 31st August 2002. All known users of the original Cambridge Explorer will be contacted individually and will be offered an extra £2 discount for advance orders. His web-site has further details - see link.

NOTE: The site for The Cambridge Explorer and The Cambridgeshire Explorer has changed as per the link here.
